Scan Gauge Scan Tips & Tricks

Correct placement of Nexus Scan Gauges and scanning technique is critical to the success of the Nexus system.

PLACING GAUGES

Correct arrangement of Scan Gauges is critical to having a successful scan.

Close Proximity

Close proximity is the most important rule to follow when placing gauges.

Under 4mm is advised where possible.

Sufficient Overlap

Aim to have the sides of Scan Gauges overlap with the adjacent gauge.

Having the next gauge in the scanner field of view before moving to the next is necessary.

Ensure Gauge Is Seated

If the gauge is being obstructed by hard-tissue. Use the taller collar height.

Note: The greater the gap between gauge and tissue, the harder to capture accurate scans.

No Rotation

Ensure that the Scan Gauge and the MUA are completely seated and torqued. Gauges cannot move between the Left to Right and Right to Left scans.

Use Retractors

To attain correct scanning data, there must not be any interference with the scanner. This means no lip, tongue or cheek. Utilize retractors every scan to minimize interference.

SCANNING TIPS

Follow the scanning preparation and guidance to get the most accurate outcomes.

Scan In One Direction

When scanning, move in one direction across the arch. Do not move the scanner back onto previously scanned areas - This causes data corruption.

Zig-Zag to Capture All Information

While moving in one direction across the arch, zig-zag the scanner head to ensure all gauges are captured.

Tilt Scanner Head

In order to capture all of the 7 facets, gently tilt the scanner head - capturing underlying soft tissue can help the scanning process.
